Therapy Dog 101 with Alissa Tuesdays!

This six week class is designed to fine tune the obedience skills necessary for Therapy Dog work, as well as build on the skills of the handler. On top of basic skills we will work on loose leash walking around distractions, doorway skills, build calm around distractions and expose them to common scenarios you might experience in therapy dog visits. This is the first part of a new Therapy Dog series at Good Choice Dog Training, and while it does not include the assessment, we will help connect you to local therapy dog organizations and provide an informal evaluation at the end so you know the best next steps. This is NOT an introductory course, or suitable for dogs under a year of age. Dogs will have need to be able to work calmly around other dogs and should have a basic foundation of skills.

Puppy Class and Enrichment

One of our most fun and important classes, Puppy Class is a critical first-step. Our class focuses on giving your puppy well-rounded enrichment and socialization with a gentle introduction to obedience skills. We'll start with puppy sits, downs, and stays, work on leash walking and recalls, and more! And who doesn't love to spend an hour with puppies?! This class is for puppies up to six months of age.

Puppy Too! Sundays

Join us for a manners class designed for adolescent dogs - six months to one year. Taking your puppy a step beyond Puppy Class, we're going to start building on that foundation to improve focus and practice our skills - like leash walking, sits, downs, stays, leave it, polite greetings and beyond! All while keeping it fun and age appropriate - because while they are getting bigger they are still puppies too! Sorry, no play time in this class, but we will work on being calm around our friends. This class is limited in size and fills up fast. If it is full please email and find out about the wait-list. Puppy Too is for dogs six months to one year old and does not require a prior class to enroll.

Recall Refresher on Mondays!

In this class we will go beyond the COME and build up your recall to include more distance, and distractions. Using games, toys and strategic proofing we will help you fine tune your recall and introduce a Whistle Recall (whistle provided!). Dogs should have attended at least one prior class, reach out if you are not sure this is a fit for you. This class is not appropriate for reactive dogs however if you want to build your skills for your reactive dog reach out, we have virtual options!

FIND IT! (Food in a Box) on Mondays!

Are you looking to dip your toe into scent work but are not sure if your dog would enjoy it? Are you looking for a fun way to keep your dog busy as we head into mud season? Well, let’s come find food in a box! In this class Alissa will introduce your dog to the concept of searching, and build a foundation for scent work. But it will also be just a fun class to do with your nosy, sniffy dog!

Fun and Games with Alissa & Meghan Mondays!

Let's jump into Spring with some FUN and GAMES! Join Alissa and Meghan in this upbeat class designed to practice skills while also enjoying time with your dog. Through games we will work on things like sits, downs, recalls, stay and proof them around distractions (and each other) - but we will also find time to have a tea party and might go on a plane ride (not literally). Bring your sense of humor (and your dog) - it's going to be FUN (and Games)!
